Type Material

Holotype: Eremobates durangonus ROEWER, 1934, in Bronn, Klassen und Ordnungen des Tierreichs, vol. 5, div. 4, book 4, p. 557, figs. 323a, 324b (female)” (Muma, 1951, p. 78). Female types, No. 9256, from Dinamita, Durango State, Mexico, in museum of Paris, France” (Muma, 1951, p. 78).

Measurements: Males: Total length, 20.0 to 27.0 mm. Chelicerae, 4.8-6.6 mm length; 2.6-3.4 mm width. Propeltidium, 2.4-3.5 mm length; 3.6-5.2 mm width. Palpi, 18.0-21.0 mm. 1st legs, 14.5-17.5 mm. 4th legs, 25.0-28.0 mm.

Females: Total length, 22.0 to 32.0 mm. Chelicerae, 6.4-8.4 mm length; 2.6-3.7 mm width. Propeltidium, 2.6-4.7 mm length, 4.0-6.7 mm width. Palpi, 16.0-21.0 mm. 1st legs, both missing to 18.0 mm. 4th legs, 22.0-28.0 mm.

Palpal Description: Structure similar to that of pallipes except the scopula on the metatarsus of the palpus is composed of 10 to 40 widely spaced papillae” (Muma, 1951, p. 78).

Ctenidia Description: Two males examined had two small abdominal ctenidia similar to those found normally on E. californicus (Simon)” (Muma, 1951, p. 78).

Operculum Description: This species seems to be highly variable in the opercula of the genital segment. Several variations are shown in figures 121, 122, and 123” (Muma, 1951, p. 78).

Other Information: These specimens are tentatively assigned to Eremobates durangonus Roewer on the basis of the similar genital opercula. A variation of these plates agrees somewhat with those of Eremobates cinerascens (Koch) as figured by Roewer (1934), and it may be that the latter species will have to be validated if a study of Koch's type can be made” (Muma, 1951, p. 79).
