Forewings and general body color are grayish brown. Forewings have a light anterior edge that often forms a light stripe along the back. Hind wings are red or yellow, and bordered with black. Abdomen is bright yellow. Inner face of the femur is black basally, and yellow with a black band distally. Hind tibiae are pale yellow or blue. Males are 20-25 mm long, females 25-35 mm.
