General color is sooty gray with brown markings. In a few individuals, the brown dominates over the gray. Fore tibia has four spines on the upper outer margin. Forewings are of nearly uniform width throughout, and the hind wings are sooty and barely translucent. Ovipositor curves downward and is nearly as long as the hind femur. The song is a prolonged high-pitched rattle with occasional brief pauses. Males are 61-73 mm long, females 76-82 mm.
