Taxon:
Cyrtepistomus castaneus (Roelofs, 1873)
Family: Curculionidae
Determiner: Samuel Brown (2020-08-06T04:47:17Z)
ID Remarks:
This tiny insect measures approximately 5 mm. It contains these characteristics that lead me to believe it is part of the Curculionidae family: - Head prolonged into a snout - Short and hard to see palpi - Antennae far in front of the eyes Note: the antennae appear to be shorter than other weevils I've observed in this family, so part of the antennae may have fallen/broken off (?). As a result, I cannot see any elbowing of the antennae which is another defining character that can help confirm the identification of this insect.
